Mertins Kusola

About

Introducing Mertins Kusola, an incredibly gifted artist born in Kinshasa, on February 9, 1996. From an early age, the seed of artistry was planted in Mertins by his father, Gode Kusola, a notable painter, and nurtured by his mentor JP Kiangu.

In his childhood, Mertins first discovered his love for art by drawing on the ground and on scraps of paper, imitating the works from “Tintin in Congo”. His inherent talent was recognized and appreciated by those around him. This early interest in art led him to join the workshop of the esteemed artist, Bed Mukoko. It was there that he embarked on a journey of discovery – exploring the nuances of color, forms, lines, and styles.

Mertins Kusola specializes in painting, but his artistic repertoire goes beyond traditional mediums. He creates captivating art using mixed techniques and employs a range of styles such as collage, realism, and abstract art. His work often incorporates oil paint, acrylic, print paste, colored crayons, pastels, and pencils. Not limiting himself to brushes and knives, Mertins isn’t afraid to use his own fingers to create depth and volume in his artworks.

His inspiration stems from nature, street scenes, photographs, and his vivid imagination. Often painting characters, especially women, who he perceives as cultivators and conservators of nature, Mertins’ work communicates a deep dialogue with his soul and spirit. His focus on women, children, flora, fauna, and landscapes explores the ambiance of feelings and emotions directly.

In essence, Mertins Kusola is an artist who immerses his entire being in his work, intending to offer peace, joy, and happiness to the world through his art. His journey and passion are a testament to his commitment to the craft. We, at kitokongo, welcome you into the captivating world of Mertins Kusola, where every stroke is a story, every canvas is an emotion.
