Jonathan Malanda is a passionate artist, inspired by the allure and power of art from a young age. His love for drawing was nurtured by his father, an architectural engineer, whom he views as his mentor. Yet, his primary source of inspiration is found in women, particularly his mother, who embodies the values of the African woman and possesses the remarkable ability to find a solution to every problem she encounters.

Malanda’s vibrant, colourful works are a reaction to social events, particularly those relating to women, who serve as iconic and mythical symbols in our lives and specifically in Congolese society. Amidst the darkness that often shrouds our lives, he chooses to portray women full of life and colour, radiating joy and sensuality, ready to step out of the canvas and enter your life.

In his captivating series, Malanda depicts the intriguing scenario of a woman transcending the canvas of a painted painting, an innovative exploration of art imitating life. The backgrounds of his paintings are often adorned with floral patterns or vivid lines, adding a rhythmic dimension to his artworks.
