He has always been captivated by the world of painting, dreaming of becoming an artist since he was 11 years old. Like many talented Congolese painters, Billy is part of the popular painting school of Kinshasa. His journey to becoming a painter was truly unique; he didn’t attend the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa but instead dedicated every spare moment to painting. One fateful day, he encountered Jean Claude Lofenia Mpoo, a renowned painter from Kinshasa, on the street, and Jean Claude became his mentor.
