Berveline Bavedila
About
Allow us to introduce you to Berveline Bavedila, our first female painter on Kitokongo. Born on 23rd March 1998 in Kinshasa, Berveline has been fascinated by the world of art since her childhood. Her journey is one of sheer passion and determination, overcoming personal challenges to manifest her dream of becoming an artist. Her artistic journey took a decisive turn when she joined the Academy of Fine Arts, where she graduated, turning her passion into a profession.
Berveline is deeply interested in the exploration of the human interior universe, the anchorage of one’s life within oneself. Her paintings often depict messages of hope, serving as solace in a disoriented world, beautifully represented by silhouettes and diverse forms of landscapes.
Berveline’s unique approach to her work involves a mix of techniques, including collage and acrylic painting on canvas. She enjoys the spontaneity and immediate results that acrylic paints provide, compared to oil paints. Her creations are often sketched freehand or using scales, followed by collage or ‘fat over lean’ technique, depending on the initial draft. Berveline believes that every artist can cultivate their technique depending on how they resonate with their chosen material.
In her thematic artwork, Berveline conveys hope to the oppressed and victims of circumstance. The recurring themes of women as life symbols, horizons representing our dreams and ambitions, and landscapes signifying the obstacles that embrace us throughout our lives, are predominant in her work. She is motivated by the belief that despite the difficulties that may hinder our objectives, hope intervenes and propels us to perceive life positively, see the real in the abstract, and keep our heads high regardless of obstacles.
Her artwork is not only a feast for the eyes but also a beacon of hope, strength, and perseverance that transcends the canvas, touching the soul of the beholder. Enjoy the mesmerizing universe of Berveline Bavedila’s art, where hope springs eternal and dreams come alive!
