Djovile'Arts
About
Cape Town-based Joviale Nteto Muaka, also known as Djovile’Arts, crafts artwork that is deeply imbued with spiritual undertones. Her distinctive style, “The Art of the Soul”, is an evocative reflection of her unique ability to interpret visions and transmute them into paintings. For Joviale, this transformative art acts as a bridge between spiritual and physical realms, becoming a medium through which divine messages of love, peace, hope, stability, and revelations are conveyed.
What makes Joviale’s work truly captivating is its dual narrative; each piece carries a story from her personal journey while simultaneously reflecting universal themes that touch her audience. This profound connection to her work began in her teenage years. At 15, while studying accounting in Congo, she discovered the therapeutic benefits of painting. Little did she know that this passion would lead her to the Ruth Prowse School of Arts, setting her on a transformative artistic journey.
A serendipitous encounter with her school director in DRC marked Joviale’s first exhibition. From those early showcases for friends and family, she has come a long way, hosting five collective and one solo exhibition at Ruth Prowse School of Arts between 2019 and 2022. Her artwork also graced the well-renowned “ideas cartel” restaurant in Cape Town.
Joviale’s significant accolades bear testament to her talent and dedication. In 2022, she was honored with the title “Most Innovative Contribution of An Artist/NGO in The Visual Arts Discipline” by the Cultural Affairs Awards in the Western Cape. This was followed by the “After School Award Nominee Certificate.” As the year turned, 2023 saw her named amongst the top 60 honored Congolese personalities, marking yet another feather in her illustrious cap.
With a deep-seated passion and an uncanny ability to meld the ethereal with the tangible, Joviale Nteto Muaka’s journey in the world of art is nothing short of inspiring. Her canvases are more than just paintings; they are narratives of divinity, personal growth, and universal human experiences.
