Jaroul Kamba, born on September 14, 1996, in Kinshasa, exhibited a passion for art from a young age. Despite his family’s initial opposition, Kamba persistently pursued his love for art, leading him to graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa.

From the tender age of 11, Kamba began to lay claim to his artistic territory by filling his school notebooks with drawings. His dedication continued to flourish even when he was directed away from art in his secondary school studies. This unstoppable passion led him eventually to deviate from his formal studies, immersing himself in the world of art. His academic journey culminated in a degree in Electricity, after which his parents, finally recognizing his innate love for art, guided him towards the Academy of Fine Arts.

Kamba’s artistic journey reflects a deep fascination with the complexities of life. His work represents life as a vast emptiness, intertwined with the ever-changing environment in which humanity exists. His vibrant pieces often contain a bustling background representing the ceaseless rhythm of life, overlaid with surrealist characters that encapsulate the transparency and concealment of an imagined universe.

In his work, Kamba seeks to express the dichotomy between the inner and outer aspects of life, a reflection of the contradictions he experienced within his own family due to his passion for art. He regards his art as a hymn to determination and the exaltation of life, celebrating the “great happiness” that comes from living in harmony with one’s inner and outer self. Kamba’s art is a testament to his belief that desire should be met with action, without the pretense of future realization.

Kamba’s career includes several exhibitions in various regions, online and in prestigious venues such as the National Museum of Kinshasa, Gallery Art Bilembo, and Wallonia Brussels in Belgium. He has also taken part in an artistic residency at “La Main Sacré”, an atelier of the Congolese painter Sam-Ilus.

Kamba’s profound artistic journey, combined with his engagement in various professional experiences and trainings, continues to enrich his practice.
